Bank and Society
The bank takes an active part in the social life of the regions where it operates, paying special attention to improving financial literacy and education initiatives, programmes targeted at disadvantaged social groups as well as culture and arts support initiatives.
Improving Financial Literacy
Almost every branch of the bank hosted financial literacy seminars in 2014. More than five thousand people attended these seminars. In addition, the bank organised a cycle of seminars in 2014 for journalists in the Moscow Region as part of the project “Media as the Main Contributor to People’s Financial Literacy”.
The bank has been implementing a number of other educational projects. For example, the Volgodonsk branch joined forces with the Social Service Centre of Volgodonsk to hold a computer literacy seminar for pensioners at which Vozrozhdenie Bank employees demonstrated how to work with online banking tools and explained their benefits. Also, the bank was among organisers of the seminar “Instruments of State Support for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses” in Rostov-on-Don.
Culture and Arts Support
The bank has been providing support to various culture and arts organisations and projects for many years, establishing partnerships with museums, theatres, festivals and initiatives whose goal is to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of Russia.
In April, the Moscow Easter Festival returned for its 13th season, with the usual support from the bank. Founded in 2002 on the initiative of Valery Gergiev, director of the Mariinsky Theatre, this festival has become a countrywide four-part event bringing together symphony, chamber and choir programmes along with a bell-ringing week.
One of the most remarkable projects that the bank participated in 2014 was an exhibition of drawings by prominent Russian artists hosted by the State Tretyakov Gallery under the title “The Birth of a Masterpiece: Sketch, Etude and Painting” as part of the gallery’s programme “Tretyakov Gallery Opens Up Its Vaults”. Furthermore, the bank funded the publication of a catalogue of an exhibition of works by artist Mikhail Mukhin called “Distant in Time, Close to the Soul”.
With Vozrozhdenie Bank’s support, the Fund for Support and Development of Relations Between Russia and Germany organised a concert of classical and organ music at the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg during the annual Museum Night event.
The bank assisted in organising and conducting the 16th interregional “Soul Strings” festival of bards, with more than 300 contestants from 20 regions of Russia, the CIS countries and beyond.

The bank implements projects to increase the financial literacy of the population, participates in the program of social mortgage lending, provides support to those who need it. We always pay special attention to activities aimed at facilitating education and harmonious development of children, strengthening family traditions. One of the most exciting programs in 2014 was the implementation of the educational project “Space on the palm of your hand”. An important direction of our social policy is supporting the development of culture and art. The bank sponsors art exhibitions, music festivals, film projects.
In 2014, the Pushkin branch of the bank became a sponsor of the 7th city festival of musical art in Pushkino. In Petrozavodsk, the bank helped to organise the sixth festival “Old Town Illusions” at the Kizhi Open-Air Museum. In Barnaul, the First All-Russia Valery Zolotukhin Youth Festival took place with the aid of Vozrozhdenie Bank.
The bank’s cinema support initiatives also continued in 2014. The bank sponsored the “White Columns” festival of archive cinema, and supported the 9th “Volokolamsk Frontier” International Cinema Festival of Military and Patriotic Films, devoted to the centenary of the First World War.
The bank has always been committed to helping children. In 2014, employees of the bank’s Barnaul branch took part in “Let’s Support a Child”, a charity marathon that has been organised on the initiative of the governor of the Altai Territory since 2009. The money raised during the marathon was used to help sick children go through life’s hardships that they faced: some of them needed money to pay for expensive surgery; some could not afford rehabilitation programmes, etc. In 2014 the bank and the Moscow Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed an agreement on partnership in “Children under Protection”, a social programme providing free accident insurance to children at the expense of the programme partners.
Involvement in Community Life
The year 2014 became the fourth year when Vozrozhdenie Bank and the Volgodonskaya Pravda newspaper together implemented “Victors’ Parade”, a project in which the Volgodonskaya Pravda newspaper publishes the memoirs of Great Patriotic War veterans. Vozrozhdenie Bank supported a relay race that was organised in Volgodonsk to commemorate the 69th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War as well as the Volgodonsk stage of the all-Russia running day “Nationwide Cross-County Race 2014”.
During the year, the bank provided sponsorship support to the regional competition “Don Teacher of the Year 2014”, became the primary sponsor of the Forum devoted to the Day of Russian Entrepreneurs and the Day of Moscow Region Industry, and sponsored the professional competition for the Moscow Region’s realestate market players “Star of the Moscow Region 2013”.
In Kaliningrad, the bank became a partner of the first festival of intellectual games among undergraduates that was held at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, supported the “Mediacountry 2014” competition of school and university media, and took part in the organisation of the family festival “The Day of Great Discoveries”. In Nizhny Novgorod, the bank held “Children in the City”, a creative festival for children aimed at attracting children and parents’ attention to arts and sports schools for kids and young people. The event gathered about 200 children.
The bank takes part in the affordable housing mortgage programme. In 2014, the bank won a tender that allowed it to participate in the Affordable Mortgage subprogramme, part of the state-funded Housing programme intended to reduce housing purchase and construction costs for teachers and doctors in the Moscow Region.
“SPACE IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND”
Vozrozhdenie Bank delivered a social and educational project under the title “Space in the Palm of Your Hand” in selected towns of the Moscow Region from April 24 to September 28. This project commemorated the 80th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin, the first cosmonaut.
As part of the project, a mobile planetarium moved around the Moscow Region, inviting children aged 4 and older and their parents to enjoy films about space exploration. In addition to enjoying the films, children could take part in sports activities, which were meant to give them an idea of what cosmonaut training was like. Children also took part in educational and entertainment competitions, creative workshops, astronomy lessons, quizzes, concerts and many other nice surprises.
The bank’s mobile planetarium was visited by almost 40,000 people in Serpukhov, Voskresensk, Chekhov, Dmitrov, Elektrostal, Naro-Fominsk, Sergiev Posad, Kolomna and Volokolamsk.
